Train Overspeed, Acceleration, and Vertical Power With the Reactive Stretch Cord

The Kbands Reactive Stretch Cord is an overspeed and resistance trainer built for athletes who want to sprint faster, jump higher, and accelerate harder out of every cut. Use it for assisted overspeed sprinting, resisted sprint outs, multi-directional agility work, and resisted jump training — on the field, in the gym, at practice, or in the driveway.

Most training tools only slow athletes down. The Reactive Stretch Cord trains both sides of speed. Moving away from the anchor, the cord adds resistance that builds leg drive and takeoff power. Moving toward the anchor, the cord assists the athlete into overspeed — teaching the legs to turn over faster than they move at normal game speed.

It works for athletes of all ages, with a partner or a stationary anchor point, and it fits nearly every sport: football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, track, volleyball, lacrosse, wrestling, and more.

What Is Overspeed Training?

Overspeed training forces the body to move at a faster rate than it can reach on its own. When an athlete sprints with assistance from the stretch cord, the legs are pulled into a faster rhythm than normal. The muscles learn to fire more quickly, leg turnover improves, and stride frequency — one of the two components that determine sprinting speed — gets trained directly.

Flip the direction and the same cord becomes a resistance trainer. Sprinting away from the anchor forces athletes to dig in deeper and drive the knees harder to cover the same ground, building the power behind acceleration and the dig phase of every sprint.

Overspeed training does not require extreme force. About 10 to 15 percent assistance is all most athletes need — enough to pull the body slightly past its normal rhythm while every rep stays controlled and clean.

The Overspeed Effect You Can Feel

Athletes feel the difference in the first session. During assisted broad jumps, athletes often cover 1 to 3 extra feet per jump — that is the overspeed stimulus at work. Finish each drill with unresisted reps and the body carries that faster, more explosive rhythm into normal movement. It is the same resisted-to-unresisted method used across all Kbands training.

Why the Reactive Stretch Cord Is Different From Basic Speed Cords

Most speed cords run a single resistance band inside the sleeve — and some are bare latex tubing with no protective sleeve at all. The Reactive Stretch Cord is built with two thick Multiflex resistance bands inside one durable safety sleeve. Two bands mean more resistance for stronger athletes and more durability rep after rep, because the cord is never relying on a single band.

The 20-foot cord stretches up to 40 feet, creating a true sprint-out runway with enough resistance range to challenge even the most advanced athletes as they build toward top-end speed.

Everything needed to train comes in the box. The adjustable 360-degree belt uses a ring that slides freely around the waist, so resistance follows the athlete through sprints, shuffles, backpedals, and jumps in any direction. The anchor strap sets up on a partner or a stationary anchor point in seconds, so athletes can run linear sprint outs and multi-directional pulls without buying anything extra. A locking carabiner secures the connection, and a carry bag keeps the whole system practice-ready.

More Than a Cord. A Complete Overspeed Training System.

Many speed cords ship with no guidance at all. Every Reactive Stretch Cord order includes four digital training programs that show athletes exactly how to train with it:

  • Overspeed Accelerator — Assisted sprint training for speed: linear acceleration, shuffle sprints, overspeed 40s, assisted broad jumps, the W drill, and resisted pyramids.
  • Vertical FX — Add inches to your jump height with resisted plyometrics: vertical tuck jumps, vertical broad jumps, and lateral bounds that train jump technique and the body's natural stretch reflex.
  • RSC Agility — Change direction, stay balanced, and accelerate again: drop-and-read sprints, assisted figure 8s, and the RSC X drill.
  • RSC Motion — Core strength, speed, and power: drag sprints, resisted sliding planks, and transitional agility drills.

Each program includes video instruction, downloadable training materials, rep guidance, and drill structure. Overspeed Accelerator is the best place to start — it introduces assisted sprinting, anchoring technique, and the running form cues that make overspeed training work.

Why Athletes Use the Reactive Stretch Cord

  • Sprint faster than game speed — Assisted overspeed reps train leg turnover and stride frequency at a pace athletes cannot reach on their own.
  • Build takeoff power — Resisted sprint outs force harder knee drive and a stronger dig phase out of every start.
  • Jump higher — Resisted tuck jumps, broad jumps, and lateral bounds load the exact movements behind vertical and explosive power.
  • Accelerate out of every cut — Multi-directional pulls train change of direction while the 360-degree belt follows the athlete's movement.
  • Finish unresisted — End each drill with no-tension reps so the faster, lighter rhythm carries straight into real play.

Choose Your Belt. Add Resistance When Ready.

The Reactive Stretch Cord comes in three belt sizes so the fit stays snug during dynamic movement: 31 inches or less, 32–39 inches, and 40 inches or more. Measure at the waist just below the belly button, where the belt rides during training.

Advanced athletes and stronger users can add the Extra Stretch Cord at checkout to double the resistance — two full cords running side by side for heavier resisted work and stronger overspeed pulls.

Built For Athletes, Parents, and Coaches

For athletes: Train the speed that shows up in games — outrun a defender to the ball, pull away in the open field, win the race down the line, and finish above the rim. Overspeed training is how you teach your legs a faster gear.

For parents: The Reactive Stretch Cord works for athletes of all ages. The belt adjusts for a secure fit, the assistance level stays light and controlled, and the included programs lay out exactly what to do — drills, reps, and form cues — so training stays structured instead of guesswork.

For coaches and trainers: Run overspeed and resisted stations with groups of 2–6 athletes per cord. The anchor strap makes partner anchoring simple, and drills like assisted 40s, W drills, and resisted shuffles drop straight into practice blocks.

Pair It With Kbands

The Reactive Stretch Cord and Kbands leg resistance bands are built to work together: Kbands add resistance to every stride and cut, while the stretch cord trains overspeed, acceleration, and vertical power. The Freedom Speed Training Bundle puts both tools — and the full set of digital training programs for each — in one box as a complete speed system.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to some of the most common questions.

What’s included with my order?

Each product page lists exactly what is included with that item. Many Kbands Training products include downloadable digital training programs, workout guidance, or access to our drill library. Replacement parts and accessories may include only the item shown, so review the product description before ordering.

How do I choose the right option, size, or resistance?

Choose the option that lets you keep smooth, controlled reps and clean form. If you cannot maintain form for 10–15 reps or 20–30 seconds during drills, start lighter. If the movement feels too easy, move up to a higher resistance level.

Are Kbands products for beginners or athletes?

Both. Kbands Training products are built for athletic performance, fitness training, and lower-body activation. Many products work well for youth athletes, teens, adults, and advanced users when the right resistance level is selected.

Do you include workouts or a training plan?

Many Kbands Training products include downloadable training programs or workout guidance. You can also use our training articles and video drill library to build routines by sport, goal, or training day.

When will my order ship?

Orders ship from our warehouse in 1–2 business days. At checkout you can choose Priority (1–3 business days) or Standard (2–4 business days) delivery.
